James Pull and the #101 Hitosuyama Racing team takes a long-awaited podium at the 24 Hours of Fuji despite challenging conditions.

The #101 Hitotsuyama Audi R8 LMS, which has been competing in the ST-X class since this season, took on the 24 Hours of Fuji with a five-driver lineup: A: Kenji Suzuki, B: Sota Ogawa, C: James Pull, D: Anna Inozume, and team manager Shintaro Kawabata joining as E driver. On race day the rain stopped in the morning, but started again in the afternoon, with occasional thunder rumblings. As a result, the start time of the final was delayed by one hour to 4:00 PM, and the now 23-hour endurance race began behind the safety car.

James Pull started the race for the #101 Hitotsuyama Audi R8 LMS. After five safety car laps, the race began. Starting from third on the grid, Pull quickly moved up to second place, closing in on the leading #33 Craft-Bamboo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3. The rain began to ease as the race began, with Pull ultimately pitting for slicks on lap 36, about an hour and ten minutes after the start. At this point, Pull had dropped to fifth place, but as planned, the #101 Hitotsuyama Audi R8 LMS continued to lap faster than its rivals, gradually improving its position by setting new fastest laps. By lap 50, it had overtaken the #33 Craft-Bamboo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 to take the lead. Pull continued to drive well after that, giving no opportunity for the #81 DAISHIN GT-R GT3 chasing him from behind, and handed the car over to Ogawa after completing 85 laps.

Ogawa returned to the track in 5th place, closing in on his rivals ahead of him as the sun set on Fuji, and by lap 104 he had risen to 2nd place. Then, at 8:00 PM, fireworks were launched, and the resulting smoke reduced visibility, leading to a Full Course Yellow (FCY) and the deployment of the Safety Car. Further FCYs and Safety Car deployments followed due to poor visibility caused by dense fog and accidents on the track, and the race was red-flagged from 1:18 AM to 2:00 AM and from 4:45 AM to 7:30 AM, resulting in a chaotic race. During this time, Kawabata, James, and Suzuki steadily completed laps, and when the race resumed at 7:30 AM, they were able to restart in 3rd place.

In the 8 o'clock hour, Inotsume took the wheel, completing 31 laps while occasionally recording fast times in the 1'43 range. Ogawa, who took over, was forced to make a 60-second pit stop for overtaking during a free practice run, but managed to maintain fourth place. The #33 Craft-Bamboo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 then retired due to mechanical trouble, and the #81 DAISHIN GT-R GT3 also encountered trouble, causing it to drop down the order, narrowing the battle for the lead to the #23 TKRI Matsunaga Construction AMG GT3, the #666 seven x seven PORSCHE GT3R, and the #101 Hitotsuyama Audi R8 LMS.

After handing the car back to Pull, the #101 Hitotsuyama Audi R8 LMS was running smoothly in third place, but on lap 481, with 2 hours and 40 minutes remaining until the finish, the right rear tire suddenly came off near the 300R. This forced Pull to bring the car back to the pits on just three wheels. A mechanic waiting in the pit replaced the right rear hub and other parts. This misadventure resulted in a loss of eight laps, though the team still led the #81 DAISHIN GT-R GT3 in fourth place by about 20 laps, and Suzuki, who had taken over, was able to return to the course in third place.

With 1 hour and 15 minutes remaining until the finish line, the team made its final pit stop, and Inotsume climbed into the cockpit. He drove hard for the final 44 laps, and took the checkered flag in third place just after 3:00 p.m., 23 hours after the start of the race. This gave the #101 Hitotsuyama Audi R8 LMS its long-awaited first podium finish of the season.
