James Pull finished the season on a high with a brilliant win in the F4 British Championship this weekend (1-2 Oct). The 16-year-old Carlin racer ensured he left his mark on the competition in the final round at Brands Hatch (GP), signing off with a win before following it up with seventh and fourth place finishes.

It was enough to see him finish fourth in the standings after playing his part in an exciting, close-fought title race which went down to the final weekend.

The ADD Motorsports driver is now looking forward to the next challenge in his highly-anticipated racing career.

He said: “I gave it my all, but even after winning the first race, other results meant there were not enough points left available for me to win the championship. To have been in the title fight all season and challenging for the title going into the final set of races was really exciting and I’ve been consistently among the podiums and wins which has been a great experience. I’m happy to finish in fourth and was delighted to be the one to get the points to bring home the Teams Cup for Carlin.”

James was fast in practice and in extremely difficult, wet conditions during qualifying, put on another pacey show to finish third - just half a tenth off pole. After a competitor was penalised for an infringement, he moved up to second. In wet conditions, James got off to a brilliant start in the first race, getting in front of the leader going into Druids. Not even the introduction of the safety car could slow him down, with a perfect re-start soon seeing him get a decent gap again and going onto win in style.

English driver James, born in Singapore, now living in Herts, managed to move up a position to sixth in the second race, but with the car unable to reach its full potential, he had to settle for seventh at the end. The final race saw James start in third but drop down a place and despite his best efforts, he was unable to close the gap again for the rest of the race. James finished just nine points behind third place with 291 points after some exciting battles that saw him fighting for the title until the very end.

The racer is now exploring his options for next season as he bids to continue on his exciting driving career.

He added: “It was great to win on such a prestigious track and end on such a positive note. I’d like to thank my parents for all their support and thank all the guys at Carlin for being such a great team. Also a special thank you to Fraser Sheader and Mark Berryman from ADD Motorsports and to John Malvern and his team at PAP for the hard work from all of them. They have all been awesome this year. This season’s been a great learning curve and I’ve got some amazing racing experience and wins under my belt. We are close to finalising the plans for next season and I’m really looking forward to the next challenge.”

"I HAVE NO DOUBTS HE WILL ACHIEVE EVEN GREATER SUCCESS AS HIS CAREER CONTINUES"
